1st shot 1st blog

today i gave myself my 1st shot of avonex. Courtney picked me up from work at 1230. i didn't get much accomplished at work - my mind was pre-occupied. we got home at 1. i took a shot out of the fridge so it would reach room temp by 3. Courtney took Basil to the Bryants so he could spend the afternoon with his grandpa (really to get him out of the house). i did some yoga to pass the time and to relax. Courtney returned around 230. Mary, the nurse, arrived at the house at 3. she was awesome. Courtney and I practiced preparing a training needle and giving a shot of water to a sponge football. then she said 'well are you ready?' so i put on a pair of shorts and washed my hands. placed an ice pack on my leg and prepared the alcohol pad, gauze pad, and the needle. when my leg was good and numb I rubbed it down with the alcohol pad. i then lined up the needle and stuck it in. it was mentally hard to do for a second and needed a little coaxing from Mary. but i didn't feel a thing. and now it's 815 and i haven't had the flu symptoms yet. i'm feeling good.
